I'm borrowing this posted quote from Everyday Mommy. It's so truthful...and I felt compelled to spread it around a bit.
"Discontented with Scripture, yearning for something God never promises, countless Christians read feelings, circumstances, events, hoping to discern God's personal coded messages in them. They may not use tea-leaves and chicken gizzards, but they no less are acting as diviners rather than divines. The results can be devastating and enslaving." -- Dan Phillips at Pyromaniacs To read more...
I think it's challenging to be content to wait on answers to prayer, to search the Scriptures earnestly, on a daily basis. But truly, searching and being patient, doing what we KNOW God wants us to do (like reading His Word, loving God with all that we have, and obeying Him as He calls) leads us to travel the narrow road and is the easy burden. To "read into" circumstances, feelings, or twisting Scripture (even just a little) brings us the wide road and the much harder journey. ~Yvonne
