Jeans

Yesterday morning, on top of handling sick children, my husband's car broke down in our driveway.

I was in a rush to find a pair of jeans to throw on so I could drive my husband to work because I needed a car to bring the children to the doctor later in the morning.

In my hurry, I grabbed my jeans out of the dryer and was terribly dismayed to find that either I had gained a couple of pounds in the last week OR my jeans had shrunk. I quickly figured out that I must have washed them in hot water since the wash indicator was on hot.

I began to complain about my jeans being too tight in passing my husband in the hall. He commented that he thought I looked fine. But these jeans were really tight! So I took them off in favor of an old pair of Lee's that are a size bigger.

I put them on and wore them the rest of the day but was rather sullen about the shrunken jeans. After all, I had just purchased them last month! I also made a note that I really must lose five pounds.

I put my shrunken jeans back into a cold water wash thinking that somehow, (miraculously perhaps?), they would loosen up. I dried them this morning.

Upon pulling them out of the dryer I realized, with roll on the floor laugh out loud humor, that these were not my jeans at all.

They were my sons! Now I feel great, because I, just for a moment two, fit into a pair of jeans with a 29 waist and my husband said I looked, "fine."
