I caught Tanner taking a snooze on the back porch this afternoon. He's about fourteen years old and has definitely spent his nine lives many times over.

He looks all warm and fuzzy here, but he's got a secret. His real name is, "Mufasa!" He is a ferocious and wild-hearted animal, able to chase cats off of his territory which ranges far and wide. (The entire lower half of the block I believe) A hunter, extraordinaire, he routinely brings birds, squirrels, and other creatures to feed his lame people family, despite not having front claws of any kind. (He showed up at our doorstep that way so long ago....)

Just in case you didn't believe me, he gave me menacing growl and bared his teeth!
(Not really....He was yawning.) LOL
We are privileged to be blessed by Tanner's presence. Out of every family on the block I believe he eats at our home most often.
Tanner has amazing self-control too. He has never tried to eat any of our other family members.

Which cannot be said of our canine family member, Lizzie, who routinely tries to eat Tanner when she catches him in the backyard. I believe that their relationship is one of, "Love and Catch Me IF You Can."

Inside the house, Tanner is completely safe from Lizzie. In fact, they have been seen sleeping together for years. The above picture is Tanner and Lizzie as a young puppy.
