"From You comes my praise in the great assembly; I shall pay my vows before those who fear Him." ~Psalm 22:25 (NASB)
Isn't that wonderful? I was so excited about this verse that I did some digging to make sure I understood it correctly. Charles Spurgeon in The Treasury of David says in speaking of the KJV, "The word in the original is "from thee", -- true praise is of celestial origin."
Praise comes from Him. My praise is not from myself offered in my own power. It is a gift from God. This is how He brings glory to Himself. It is not a work of my flesh, but it is a gift of grace that flows through me to bring the Father glory. The only requirement is that I be the willing vessel.
Lord, you have been faithful to reveal Yourself to me, to answer the question, "Why can't I praise you in my distress?" I see the area of unbelief you have exposed. Help me in my unbelief. I desire to be your vessel, please continue to heal the wounds of the past and bring the praise to my lips.
"You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your Word." ~Psalm 119:114
