Ah, Gator Gumbo by Candace Fleming is a delightful book! Monsieur Gator is becoming an old guy. He's got sore feet and can't move as quickly as he used to in order to catch himself a meal. All of the animals who used to respect him with fear and trembling begin to make fun of him. But Monsieur Gator has a plan...
This book is masterfully written. As I was reading the words, I picked up a nice Louisiana drawl...and I became Monsieur Gator. The illustrations are amazing...and simply draw the reader into the story. Grace and I had a good 'ole time reading this tale.
