The countdown has begun. My family is starting back to home-school on August 19th, about three and half weeks away! I like to do things in increments, so last week I put away last year's books and pulled out the new learning materials. I sorted and stashed books into children's cubbies, then lastly figured out what I already had and what odds and ends that I needed to purchase. (I forgot to order the dissection stuff for Marine Biology!)

On Saturday, I purchased pencils, erasers, glue sticks, construction paper and college rule paper. I still had a ton of the wide rule paper left from last year. (Probably because Sam does not like to write much...and when he does, he types.) :snort: This week I've tackled the question of record keeping for the upcoming year. I needed to figure out if I'm going to continue with the same record keeping system for high school that I have been using or whether I might go with index cards instead. There are pros and cons to each system...and I finally decided to stick with my home-made record keeping sheets. I tried to figure out a way to post them here to share, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. (Does anyone know how to do this?)

Next week, I'll probably plan a week of lessons. I've learned to plan only a week at a time, because the Lord seldom does things the way I think is best. He always throws a wrench into my plan with some amazing rabbit trail or deep spiritual truth that we need time to chew on. His way is always best and so I've learned to keep short plans and I always use pencil. {grin}

Anyways, how about you? What are you doing to prepare for a new year of homeschooling? Leave a comment...I'd love to hear all about it!
