"So then, you will know them by their fruits." Matthew 7:20
I few days ago I came across these verses in Kay Arthur's devotional book, "Teach Me How To Live."
The Lord gave me a wake up call with my daughter recently. This weekend I received another call in the form of another child's needs. The Lord has his pruning sheers in hand. He has brought a season of intensive sanctification. I'm so grateful.
I'm grateful for the difficulties and trials because I know that they will bring deeper love for Jesus and a dependency that I desperately need. (Oh how I forget to depend on Him!) I'm excited about what is to come because, while the pruning is uncomfortable, I know that God must be planning an abundant harvest.
For my part, the Lord has led me to walk through the vineyards of my life with the purpose of inspecting what fruit has grown there. He has shown me unfruitful, woefully tangled vines and necessarily, the axe came down. Conversely, He has shown me some surprises. I fully expected the need to give up my blog. But He has shown me fruit here, so I'm grateful to continue to serve Him by keeping this daily log of my life's lessons. (Some of which are obvious and others which are more camouflaged.)
I feel as though my family is at the beginning of a new season; there is work to be done. The earth of our souls must be tilled and turned over. Seeds of truth must be planted. The Living Water must be poured over hearts and minds. Pruning is mandatory. Then we will bloom, to His glory, right where He has planted us, in the simplicity of our little house.
