I have had a "dreadful," job hanging over my head for a month now. It's been on the list, but other things have had higher priority.
Today, I finally caught Matt's lifelong educational portfolio down into two volumes. I had previously done grades K-3 a few years back. What I had to tackle tonight was to condense what filled four, three inch binders, down into one, three inch binder. Grades 4 to 7, all in one binder!
So I have a clear representation of Matt's education, through the 7th grade in two binders. Yay!
Now you might ask, "But isn't he in the 10th grade?" Yes, he is. Our state law mandates that I keep his portfolios in full for two years post completion. So I can't condense those binders yet. In fact, I don't think I'll condense the high school portfolios at all. I want all the proof I can get get that Matt did what he was supposed to do to earn his high school diploma!

But all of this work has given me:
a. more space in the closet
b. 3 binders to recycle to fill up for this year's portfolio evaluations.
Of course, my camera batteries are dead, so no pictures. But I'm so grateful to get this job done!
Next year, I'll do Andrew's portfolios to have three binders for next year. If you think of it, please pray for me. In organizing their work each year I usually get nervous about whether, "We've done enough." Please pray that I can evaluate and assess myself and the children fairly and make appropriate adjustments, without "over-correcting."
Thanks!
